5 Tips to know about your cat

It can happen that a little game with your cat ends, with claws and teeth, in a real bloodbath. The longer the game lasts, the more excited the cat will become and become uncontrollable. Just as unmanageable as when your cat gets angry or afraid. Here are 5 tips to calm your cat!

1. Ignore it

Quite simply. A cat that meows unexpectedly can test your patience. So that he understands that meowing in all directions will not allow him to get what he wants (caress, food, etc.), you can simply ignore it. He will eventually stop his meowing on his own. Of course, if your cat meows because it is in pain, consult a veterinarian.

2. Allow him to relax

Your role as owner is to offer your cat the opportunity to relax. To do this, make sure to offer him a healthy and hygienic lifestyle so that he can be as calm as possible, whatever the situation.

To soothe him on a daily basis, the ideal is to buy him a cat tree (you can even make it yourself), a scratching post, toys, clean his litter box regularly, give him physical exercise and leave him a bowl of fresh water available throughout the day .

3. Don’t force him to face his fears

If you notice that your cat is upset or stressed by a situation, avoid making her confront (guests at home, vacuum cleaner, etc.). For example, if he is afraid of storms, don’t stop him from hiding under furniture. You should not force him to face his fear. Conversely, let him escape then come back to you. He should calm down on his own.

4. Carry it by the scruff of the neck

This little tip is nothing new! If your cat is a little too excited and you want to calm him down instantly, grab him by the scruff of his neck and lift it slightly (see video below).

5. Do not disturb him in his refuge

Your cat must have a place all to itself, its own refuge (its basket for example), outside or inside the house. When he is there, it must not be disturbed under any circumstances. This place, sheltered and comfortable, ideally high up, must be entirely dedicated to him and as calm as possible.
