6 Natural Remedies for Your Cat’s Itching

Have you noticed that your cat keeps scratching or licking in one or more places but you can’t find any parasites? It is certainly a skin problem such as irritation caused by an allergy or overly dry skin. In this case, the following natural remedies can relieve your hairball.

In order to find out the exact causes of this itching, an appointment with the veterinarian is still necessary. You can then use one or more of these natural remedies.

1. Aloe vera

Aloe vera has already proven itself. It has various benefits, including moisturizing the skin and relieving itching, not only in humans but also in animals. To relieve your cat of its itching, buy some gel 100% d’aloe vera and apply it with a soaked cotton pad on the affected area.

Only mixed aloe vera is harmful to cats, so there is no need to worry if they ingest it. However, the ideal is to carry out a bandage where the cream was applied. The product will be more likely to have an effect than if your cat swallows it…

2. Oats

Oats can be used if your cat does not have type problems. fungal (mushrooms). There are several ways to use it. You can bathe your cat with a shampoo containing oats. Wait for the mixture to cool then apply it in appropriate quantities to the areas that itch your cat.

3. Green tea

Green tea can be harmful to cats if they ingest it. On the other hand, if you use green tea on the irritated areas, it should relieve the itching. You simply need to let it infuse two green tea bags in a cup of hot water and rinse the itchy areas with the infusion once it has cooled, then let it dry.

4. Chamomile

Chamomile, like calendula and green tea, help soothe skin irritations. So you can use it in the form of rinsing.

One technique is to steep chamomile tea and put the preparation in a sprayer. Simply let the preparation cool in the fridge and then spray the areas of your cat that are irritated.

5. Essential oils

To soothe your cat’s itching, essential oils can be used in two forms: in shampoo or in soothing oil. If you opt for shampoo, you only have to introduce one of the following essential oils into approximately 240 ml of veterinary shampoo. If you choose the soothing oil, mix one of these same oils in 120 ml of olive oil and apply the preparation.

  • 7 drops of lavender (Lavandula augustifolia),
  • 5 drops of Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens),
  • 6 drops of German chamomile (Matricaria recutita),
  • 6 drops of carrot seeds (Daucus carota).

6. Food supplements

Your cat’s itching may be due to omega-3 fatty acid deficiencies which are responsible for the good health of your skin. To remedy these deficiencies, you can give your feline 1 tablespoon of flaxseed, salmon or olive oil, in addition to its daily diet, for 6 months. Vitamins A, C and E are also effective in relieving your cat’s itching.
